Laxachusetts is ROARING into the Fall! It has been a busy summer of player development and NCAA commitments, but an incredible confluence of events have Laxachusetts more excited for the future than ever before!
First up- girls Laxachusetts program is up and running. Acacia Walker, one of the most dynamic people in the sport and the head coach of Boston College, has put together an incredible staff and launched a girls program that will match or exceed all the developmental targets set in our boys program! The initial tryouts were a blast. We can’t wait to see our girls Laxachusetts players develop on Coach Walker’s watch! We will continue to grow the program with the 8th grade class throughout their HS years.
Our HS kids will once again be playing in the most relevant showcase events in the country. This Fall they will be seen at Harvard, UMass and the Philly Showcase. Included in the Philly Showcase event is a Friday night invitation for one of our teams to play at PPL Park as one of 5 clubs from across the country to square off vs the best that Philly has to offer! 125 college coaches are expected to attend!
Both our boys and girls will once again be playing in the best skill offerings all winter. Laxachusetts has rented facilities all over Mass so our families have access to our skill offerings at locations reasonably close to their homes. And when you have the best staff in the country (bar none) teaching skill development, it is important to be there!
Speaking of which, Laxachusetts has been able to add staff members that are only going to add to the dynamic, intense, outrageous environment that one finds at a Laxachusetts workout!
Tim Shea has rejoined Laxachusetts after moving back to the Boston area. A one-time coach at Notre Dame, the one-time COO of Major League Lacrosse, and an all American goalie at Cornell and St Anthony’s HS, Coach Shea is back and better than ever! Can’t wait to hear him whistle for attention at a mini-camp or see him wade into a sideline of college recruiters at a tourney and start tracking down opportunities for his players!
Tillman Johnson has agreed to run and coordinate the goalie development for Laxachusetts! The very same goalie who held the University of Maryland to their LOWEST goal total since 1948 (2) as a FRESHMAN at Virginia! The very same goalie who won a National Championship in 2003 as a senior when he was named first team All American and the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player! Tillman has been a whispered about goalie since he was tearing up the rec leagues of Baltimore as a kid. But he is an even better coach of the position! Our goalie content is getting organized, outlined and streamlined by arguably the best of all time!
And we are thankful to have Jim Finlay aboard as well! Coach Finlay was an assistant at Brown and Harvard in the past 10years as well as the Head Coach at Trinity College! We know of no one with more insight and energy to provide in the recruiting process as well defensive play. It was a delight when we could get a player into a school he coached at and we look forward to watching him aid our student athletes in that process!
We look forward to the next year of Laxachusetts. Be on the look out for a slew of college commits we have forthcoming, as well as details on our evolved Junior High Spring development program. Our commitment to developing young men (and now young women!) into great people and great lacrosse players has never felt stronger! For more info, visit http://www.laxachusetts.com/
