TOWSON, Md. Freshman goalie Sean McKee made 13 saves to earn the Muscle Milk MVP award as Penn Charter Charter defeated nationally-ranked Landon School (MD), 6-5, Friday in the LacrossePlayground Spring Classis at Towson University.

Ray Vandegrift and Brandon White led the Quakers’ attack with two goals each.

The Quakers (1-3), who had lost to three elite Maryland foes (Loyola Blakefield, Boys’ Latin, McDonogh) to open the season, led nearly the entire way in toppling a team that is ranked No. 11 by TopLaxRecruits and No. 15 by Inside Lacrosse.

“We have had a tough road starting off against Loyola, BL and McDonogh,” said PC coach Pat McDonough. “Landon is right in that class; they are one of the top teams in the country. It was nice to come out and play well tonight.

“You know our (Inter-Ac) league, with Malvern, Haverford, EA and GA, so if you can’t come down and compete with schools down here, then you can’t compete in our league either.”

Dean Roseman also had a goal and an assist for Penn Charter while long pole Steve Gottlieb added a tally. Drew Murray and Pierce Kraft added assists and Charles Guinta had six face-off wins.

McDonough also thanked LacrossePlayground officials, including JR Bordley of Landon, for running a great event.
