BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women's lacrosse senior defender Lauren Willcox has been named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week after a stellar performance against Fairfield Saturday. Willcox finished with two groundballs and a career-high five caused turnovers to help lead a Mountain Hawks defense which allowed just five goals on the afternoon. The Lehigh defense has now allowed just 14 goals over its three home games this season.

The weekly award marks Willcox's first of her career. The five caused turnovers tied the most by any Lehigh player over the last six seasons. The last time a Lehigh player had more than five was on Mar. 30, 2009 when Lauren Dykstra tallied six against Drexel.

Willcox and the defense allowed just 12 shots all games and caused 18 of Fairfield's 22 turnovers. The Stags scored just two goals in the first half and three in the second as three of Fairfield's goals were free position goals. For the season, Willcox owns three groundballs and 10 caused turnovers.

Willcox is a two-time All-Patriot League honoree, earning second team All-League as a sophomore and first team All-League as a junior.

The Mountain Hawks return to action on Friday when they head to Bucknell for their Patriot League opener. Opening draw is set for 5 p.m.
