INDIANAPOLIS (5/26/2015) -- For the second-straight season, a Titan was atop the national statistics as University of Detroit Mercy sophomore goalie Jason Weber (Whitby, Ont. / Christ School (N.C.) led the nation in saves per game.
Weber topped the country with a 14.43 mark as he posted a school record 202 stops on the year. He also had the Division I single game high in 2015 as he made 28 saves against Mercer on March 4, tying a MAAC record that was set in 2004.
Weber was also third in the nation and second in the MAAC with a .589 save percentage.
Last season as a true freshman, Weber led the nation with 16.27 saves per game and a .642 save percentage. He is still the only Titan to lead the nation in a national statistic.
Senior Scott Drummond (Birmingham, Mich. / Seaholm) was the only other Titan in the top 15 in the country as he was 14th in the nation – and second in the MAAC – with eight man-up goals.
As a team, Detroit was number one in saves per game (15.14) marking the fifth time in the program's seven-year history that it has led the country in a stat. UDM led Division I in caused turnovers in 2011 and 2012, saves per game last year as well as setting a NCAA record for man-up offense with a .708 scoring clip in 2014.
The Titans were also 11th in clearing percentage (.883) and 13th in man-up offense (.451) in 2015.
In the final MAAC statistics, Weber was third in the league with a 10.26 goals against average, while senior Chris Shevins (Merrick, N.Y. / Mepham) ranked third with 1.14 caused turnovers per game.
Senior Shayne Adams (St. Catharines, Ont. / Denis Morris) was fourth in points per game (2.86) and goals per game (1.93). Freshman Mark Anstead (Potomac, Md. / Gonzaga) was tied for fourth in assists per game (1.21) and ranked sixth in points per game (2.71), while senior Brandon Beauregard (Clarkston, Mich. / Notre Dame Prep) was tied for fourth in assists per game (1.21) and finished ninth in points per game (2.43).
As a unit among conference peers, the Titans were number one in clearing percentage and caused turnovers (7.29). Detroit was second in man-up offense (.451), scoring offense (9.93), shot percentage (.286) and scoring margin (-0.29), while placing third in points per game (15.14) and scoring defense (10.21).
The Titans finished the season with a school record eight wins, advancing to the MAAC Championship for the fifth-straight season.
