US Military Wheelchair Lacrosse Program Selects A Logo

US Military Wheelchair Lacrosse Program Selects A Logo

Last month I was contacted by a fellow Laxer, SGT Christopher Lowe, who was severely wounded while fighting in Afghanistan, Chris needed a logo for his organization and he didn't have to say any more. I was on board. I will let SGT Lowe tell his story.

The Fort Stewart Warrior Transition Battalion occupational therapy office is charged with developing adoptive sports for our nations wounded warriors. Wheelchair lacrosse originally was developed out of California so the OT department allowed me to copy the programs concept and develop it into our own program. Lots of organizations once they heard about our developing lacrosse team wanted to come on board and help out fellow laxers; the goal of the US military's wheelchair lacrosse program is create a adoptive sport that carries the warrior spirit that is traditional with lacrosse, and our eventual hopes are to have this program added to the list of adoptive sports that all services will compete in at the US Military "Warrior Games" (held annually at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado). August 2009 I was ambushed while serving in Afghanistan, killing my team leader and wounding me; while at Walter Reed Army Medical Center lacrosse was part of my rehab program and was what kept me motivated to recover but before I was on my feet again I was wheelchair bound for four months. One of my biggest supporters since beginning the program has been Tommy Johnson of Lax Artist, he recently completed our leagues Official logo (free of charge for our nation's wounded warriors).

So after talking with SGT Lowe and giving in some serious thought and alot of sketching this is what we came up with....So when you see it , and you will see it everywhere soon, you will know the story behind the art. And the guy who fought for his country, family n friends to make all this happen, SGT Christopher Lowe.
