BALTIMORE, Oct. 1, 2013 — US Lacrosse today opened registration at uslacrosse.org<http://usl.ebiz.uapps.net/personifyebusiness/EventsandClinics/2014RegionalChampionshipsSeries.aspx> for the US Lacrosse Regional Championships, powered by Lacrosse Unlimited. The national governing body’s 17th annual series of youth lacrosse tournaments will feature boys’ and girls’ U13 and U15 teams competing at four sites in June 2014.

The US Lacrosse Regional Championships guarantee teams at least four games over the three-day tournament, with age-appropriate rules and US Lacrosse-trained officials. Teams compete in pool play before progressing through bracket play to determine a champion. US Lacrosse will name a “Keeper of Lacrosse” Sportsmanship Award winner at each championship. Certified athletic trainers are on site, and there is no admission charge for spectators.

In the U15 division, the top four teams at each regional championship will earn automatic invitations with free or discounted registration to the sixth annual US Lacrosse U15 National Championships, powered by Lacrosse Unlimited, July 21-23, 2014, in Aurora, Colo. As many as 32 boys’ teams and 32 girls’ teams will compete for the 2014 US Lacrosse U15 National Championships.

Locations and dates of the 2014 US Lacrosse Regional Championships:
US Lacrosse Southeast Championships – Raleigh, N.C., June 6-8
US Lacrosse Central Championships – Madison, Wis., June 13-15
US Lacrosse Northeast Championships – Amherst, Mass., June 20-22
US Lacrosse West Championships – San Jose, Calif., June 27-29
Note: schedule subject to change.

The early-bird team registration fee is just $1,350 through Nov. 30 ($1,550 Dec. 1-May 1). Coaches or team managers that register two or more teams from the same organization can save an additional $50 per team.

Also beginning today, US Lacrosse began accepting applications for at-large bids<https://www.formrouter.net/forms01@USLAX/2014_U15_NC__App_Form.html> to the U15 National Championships. Though a limited number of at-large bids will be awarded, U15 teams can guarantee a path to the national championship by placing in the top four at a regional championship.

“We’re happy to work with our friends at Lacrosse Unlimited and at convention and visitors bureaus in Raleigh, Madison, Amherst and San Jose to put on first-class tournaments for our youth members and their families,” said Beth Porreca, director of special events at US Lacrosse. “It should be another great year of youth lacrosse, and we encourage coaches to register their teams now to take advantage of the early-bird pricing.”
