BALTIMORE, Dec. 9, 2014 — US Lacrosse, in partnership with MedStar Sports Medicine, is hosting its third Sports Medicine Symposium on Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Baltimore Convention Center with the goal of providing comprehensive information on men’s and women’s lacrosse-specific sports injuries and prevention.
The event is open to all members of the medical and lacrosse communities, including physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, allied health personnel, coaches, administrators and students. Online registration is available atwww.uslacrosse.org/
The event will feature both presentations and panel discussions, with a faculty of nearly 30 health and medical experts. Among the topics to be presented are:
- The State of Youth Sports in America
- Positive Youth Lacrosse Experience
- Trends in Lacrosse Injury Types and Public Health Interventions
- ACL Injuries and Prevention Strategies
- Nutrition for Lacrosse Athletes
- Head Acceleration Research in Lacrosse
- Returning Athletes to the Field
- Research and Medical Challenges for Lacrosse in 2015
Each presentation will include ample discussion and Q-and-A opportunities.
"This will be the most comprehensive and in-depth sports medicine event that we have ever hosted and features the deepest line-up of speakers and experts that we have ever assembled," said Bruce Griffin, director of health and sport safety at US Lacrosse. "We're extremely fortunate that so many well-respected medical and safety experts have agreed to share their expertise, and we're certain that the information will be beneficial to all attendees."
The Sports Medicine Symposium is being hosted in conjunction with the 2015 US Lacrosse Convention, which will also be held at the Baltimore Convention Center, January 23-25. While registration for each event is independent, those attendees registering for the convention may add a symposium registration for just $35.
In addition to admittance, symposium registration includes a box lunch and light refreshments throughout the event for all attendees.
The US Lacrosse Sports Medicine Symposium is being planned in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the Union Memorial Hospital and US Lacrosse. Details regarding continuing medical education for physicians as well as ATC and PT credit for this course will be announced soon.
