Updated, 2013 Tewaaraton Award Nominee List

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh senior attackman David DiMaria has been named a Tewaaraton Award nominee, as announced late last week. He is one of only 25 players nationally named a nominee for the sport’s highest honor. DiMaria, senior Dante Fantoni and sophomore Matt Poillon were originally named to the watch list in February.

Five finalists will be selected in mid-May. The finalists will be invited to Washington, D.C. for the 13th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony, May 30 at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian.

The Dix Hills, N.Y. native leads the Patriot League with 68 points (31 goals, 37 assists) to reach exactly 200 for his career which stands sixth in league history. His 37 assists are also tied for 10th for a single season. DiMaria was named the Patriot League Tournament MVP this past weekend after posting 11 points over the two Lehigh victories as the Mountain Hawks captured their second straight Patriot League Championship.

DiMaria is one of only three nominees from the Patriot League, along with Colgate’s Peter Baum (the 2012 Tewaaraton winner) and Army’s John Glesener (the 2013 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year). DiMaria has posted five or more points on seven occasions this season and has racked up 26 points over his last five games.

The Mountain Hawks defeated Bucknell on Sunday for their second straight Patriot League Tournament and the league’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Selection Show is set for Sunday, May 5 at 9 p.m. on ESPNU and ESPN3.
