UNC Lacrosse Team Raises $25,000 for Cancer Research

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina men's lacrosse program exceeded its expectations as it raised nearly $25,000 for the VS Cancer Foundation this past Saturday prior to the UNC Homecoming football game against Virginia.

Team members and coaching staff representatives were on hand in the Ramshead Parking Deck Plaza from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday getting their heads shaved to support VS Cancer. The total raised for the loss of their locks ended with $24,279.00 going to the Foundation.

"On behalf of the entire UNC Men's Lacrosse program I wanted to say thank you for everyone's support of our "VS Cancer" event this past Saturday morning at Ram's Plaza," said UNC head men's lacrosse coach Joe Breschi. "It was a Homecoming to remember as the Tar Heels defeated Virginia in Kenan Stadium and our young men honored women's basketball coachCoach Sylvia Hatchell by shaving their heads and raising $24,279.00 for the VS Cancer Foundation (http://unclax.vs-cancer.org).

The Foundation has already donated funds to 30 Hospitals throughout the country while touching the lives of over 32,000 kids battling cancer.
