"It has always been a dream of mine to play for Team USA since I started playing the game. To be named as one of the final 30 players is an honor and is humbling knowing those who very well could have made it over me. It has been nothing short of amazing to be a part of this whole process and to be surrounded by the best players and coaches this sport has to offer. Time to get to work now and bring home the gold!”
- Rob Pannell, #3 New York Lizards
In the months to come the team will begin setting up training schedules. Team USA will reconvene June 22-26 for a training camp that is said to take place in an unannounced location in Connecticut. The training camp will conclude with a matchup in the MLL All-Star Game on June 26th at Harvard University, in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Upon completion of the All-Star Game, Team USA will then make their way to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs for yet another training camp, leading up the much anticipated, world title defense game in Denver on July 10th. Only 23 of the 30 Team USA players will be selected as part of the active roster for games of the World Championship.
Rob Pannell and Mike Evans have every intention to be part of that roster, and continue to practice vigorously in the time ensuing the upcoming training camps and championship.
“Being selected to be a part of Team USA in the upcoming 2014 World Games is an unbelievable honor. This is something I have thought about since I was a kid and have worked towards my whole lacrosse career. There is no greater honor in sports than being able to represent your country and wear its colors.”
