Travel, Play, Give Back: Princeton Heads To Costa Rica
Share
The motto on the top of the itinerary for Zag Sports reads "Travel. Play. Give Back," and that's exactly what the Princeton men's lacrosse team will be doing for a week.
Princeton leaves Thursday for a trip to Costa Rica, one that will see the Tigers and Zag Sports team with Fields of Growth to help grow the sport in the Central American nation. As a result, Princeton will be involved in running clinics for youth and adult players and will play several exhibition games, including one against the Costa Rican national team.
There will also be non-lacrosse service projects through Fields of Growth, the organization that has used lacrosse as an educational and economic tool in Uganda. Princeton's Chad Wiedmaier spent four weeks in Uganda last summer with Fields of Growth, and Tom Schreiber will be heading to Uganda after the trip to Costa Rica later this summer to continue the work.
The trip to Costa Rica will also feature ziplining, surfing and whitewater rafting, as well as beach time, barbeques and other relaxing activities.
Princeton will fly into San Jose, the Costa Rican capital, and then spend time in Samara and Tamarindo.
Princeton's last international trip was in 2008, when the Tigers went to Spain and Ireland. Princeton traveled to Japan eight years ago.
