Tournament field announced for DI Men's Lacrosse Championship

INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Committee announced the field for its championship tournament Sunday.

Ten conferences were awarded automatic qualification. The four lowest automatic-qualification teams will compete for two play-in berths. The remaining six teams were placed in the bracket.

The following conferences and their representatives received automatic qualification:

America East Conference: Albany
Atlantic Coast Conference: Notre Dame
Atlantic Sun Conference: Richmond
Big East Conference: Denver
Colonial Athletic Association: Drexel
Eastern College Athletic Conference: Air Force
Ivy League: Penn
Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference: Siena
Northeast Conference: Bryant
Patriot League: Loyola (Md.)

The top 14 teams have been placed in the bracket; the remaining four teams will compete for the last two berths in the bracket via two play-in matches. The play-in matches will take place Wednesday. The remainder of the field was selected at large: Cornell, Duke, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Maryland, Syracuse, North Carolina and Virginia.

The Division I semifinal and championship games, and the Division II and III championship games, will be held at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, May 24-26 and hosted by Johns Hopkins, Loyola (Md.), UMBC and Towson. All Division I first-round games will be televised on ESPNU or ESPN2 on May 11 and 12. The quarterfinal games will also all be televised on ESPN2 or ESPNU on May 17 and 18. The Division I semifinals will be televised live on ESPN2 starting at 1 p.m. ET May 25. The championship game will be televised live on ESPN starting at 1 p.m. ET May 26.
