The Best U13 Player in the World Commits to Air Force

Wow! We were stoked to learn that the high school freshman who committed to Air Force this week was in fact our favorite U13 player in the world. In July of 2012, I made a pretty bold prediction about the U13 lacrosse phenom. Saying:

Remember this kid’s name. I’m pretty positive he’ll raise a few eyebrows with this video and he’ll probably commit to an ACC school by the time recess is over today.

Well, I was obviously wrong about one gleaming prediction, but I'm glad he's made a big move. The talented middie's name is Christian Marshall. Marshall hails froms Faith Lutheran (Nev.) and considered Michigan, Navy, and Notre Dame.

In case you've forgotten who Marshall is, here's the ridiculous video to jog your memory.

4OneTwoLax has interesting commentary about the commitment. Lacrosse Playground is all-in when it comes down to early recruiting. Enforcing restrictions on a student-athlete and an institution is the last thing we need to see. Let the kids play!

shut off his right hand and the kid is useless on offense.

Of course you are all in on early recruiting, you make your living representing everything that is wrong in lacrosse today. Swag, glitz, glammour etc. You completely miss the point when it comes to the true value of this great sport and early recruiting is a huge part of the problem we are seeing today. Parents and players focus less on the true value and life lessons one can learn through participation in a team sport and all on where their little super star can go. Which, in turn, creates issues with entitlement, poor behavior on the field and in the stands and a soft generation of young men with little to no work ethic.
