Complete List of All-Americans
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a standout senior season, and career, Lehigh men's lacrosse attackman Dan Taylor has been named a USILA All-American, as announced on Thursday. An honorable mention honoree, Taylor earns All-America laurels for a second straight season. Taylor finished his senior campaign with 77 points, most on the team and the Patriot League. His 4.81 points per game stands seventh nationally.
Taylor is one of nine Patriot Leaguers named an All-American. In total, five league squads are represented on the prestigious list.
Lehigh now has 21 All-America honors in program history, 11 coming over the past four seasons. Last season, Taylor, Matt Poillon and Tripp Telesco were all named All-Americans. Poillon, Ty Souders, David DiMaria and Mike Noone were recognized in 2013 while Poillon, Souders and Roman Lao-Gosney were All-Americans in 2012, becoming Lehigh's first honorees since 1994.
Taylor wrapped up his career with 76 points as a junior then followed with 77 points as a senior. The winner of Lehigh Athletics' Graduating Male Athlete Award, Taylor was named a Tewaaraton Award Finalist as one of the top 25 players in the nation. He was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, entering the league tournament with 25 more points than anyone else in the league.
The Calgary, Alberta native finished his collegiate career with 220 points (fourth in league history and trailing former Tewaaraton winner Baum by just five points). Taylor posted three or more points in his last seven games and 13 of 16 games on the season. He tallied 10 points (five goals, five assists) at Furman in February which earned him Patriot League and USILA National Offensive Player of the Week honors. Taylor earned the league honor again in April and was named National Player of the Week from Lacrosse Magazine after six points against #14 Princeton, including the game-winning goal with 16 seconds remaining, and seven points at #18 Stony Brook.
In addition, Taylor was named a Senior CLASS Award candidate and was selected 38th overall by the Denver Outlaws in January's Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft. Taylor has played two games for the Outlaws, scoring a goal against Charlotte in his MLL debut while dishing an assist at Rochester a week later.
Lehigh advanced to its fifth straight Patriot League Tournament in 2015, winning five of its last seven games including back-to-back wins over nationally-ranked Princeton and Stony Brook. Taylor and his senior class tied last year's class as the winningest in program history, advancing to four league tournaments and winning two Patriot League Championships.
