Springfield Announces Captains for 2012 Season

Springfield, Mass. – January, 2012 - Springfield College head coach Keith Bugbee recently announced that seniors Mike Delia, Tim Cimini, Shane Ferguson, and Tyler O'Keefe were chosen as team's captains for the upcoming 2012 campaign.
The group is part of a senior class that has won three straight Pilgrim Lacrosse League Championships and gone a perfect 25-0 against conference opponents.
Delia has had a decorated career at Springfield as he enters his senior season as a three-time first-team all-conference selection. The Wading River, N.Y. native quarterbacked Springfield's offense last season with 45 points, including a team-best 27 helpers to go along with his 18 goals.
Coming off his first full season with Springfield, Ferguson will lead the Pride's midfield after being named to the all-conference first team a year ago. The Mamaroneck, N.Y. product notched 42 points off 30 goals and 12 assists, including a team-best five man-up goals.
Cimini had a breakout season for Springfield at close defense last season. Hailing from West Hartford, Conn., he led Springfield with 22 caused turnovers this season and added 34 ground balls. For his efforts, Cimini was named a first-team all-conference honoree as well as an ECAC New England Men's Lacrosse First Team All-Star.
O'Keefe earned his first all-conference accolade after a stellar season as the Pride's longstick midfielder. A native of Concord, N.H., he picked up 28 ground balls and caused 11 turnovers while being a key component in Springfield's transition offense. He also added four goals and an assist this season.
Springfield will kick off its season on February 22 when it hosts Gordon at 4:00 pm.
