Rohnert Park, CA – Sonoma State Men’s Lacrosse has announced Alex Richmond as Defensive Coordinator. Sonoma State finished second in the WCLL this past year and seventh in the final Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association Coach’s Poll.
"After doing a nationwide search, we found the right candidate was right here inside the Sonoma State family," stated Panchito Ojeda, Head Coach at Sonoma State. "Alex will bring a lot of passion and knowledge of the game to the Seawolves, not to mention his passion for our continued success. It is going to be an exciting year with Coach Richmond and Coach D'Angelo."
"It's an absolute honor to be joining Coach Ojeda and Coach D'Angelo on the Sonoma State staff," said Richmond. He continued, "This is a great opportunity to join two great coaches and an outstanding group of young men and help contribute to the continued success of Sonoma State."
Richmond will be joining the Seawolved to be the Defensive Coordinator in addition to other duties. Richmond played for Sonoma State from 2006-2011. Graduating in 2012, he received All-Conference honors in the WCLL twice and was invited to play on USA West in 2008. Last year, Richmond was the Defensive Coordinator at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA leading the team to the WCLL playoffs.
