Philadelphia, PA - On Friday, March 21, 2014 the HEADstrong Foundation™ will roll out the lime green carpet for an unforgettable evening as they present the 4th Annual Lime Light Gala.  This special event has been recognized as one of the most inspirational events in the city of Philadelphia, recognizing groundbreaking cancer research, honoring inspirational stories of hope, supporting patients and families, remembering those who have lost their battle, and celebrating survivors of blood cancers.

The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Tickets are $250 per seat.  Purchase tickets.  This year, HEADstrong is presenting an exclusive opportunity for 50 guests to upgrade their ticket for an additional $100.  The MVP Upgrade will provide guests with access to a private bar, a private bidding opportunity during the last 10 minutes of the silent auction and a limited edition Lime Light Gala Champagne Flute.  Upgrades can be purchased online or at the event, but will be limited to only 50 guests.  Upgrade your ticket.

The black-tie optional event will include a silent auction and a spectacular dinner program featuring world-class entertainment, an award presentation followed by dancing in celebration of the life and legacy of HF Founder, Nicholas “HEAD” Colleluori.

This year, Philadelphia-native, recording artist and survivor, Lauren Hart, best known for performing “The Star Spangled Banner” and “O Canada” prior to Philadelphia Flyers games, will serve as the emcee.  The event will be highlighted by an incredible performance by national recording artist Jesse Ruben and the amazing sounds of Bounce, Philadelphia’s Premier Party Band.

The 4th Annual Lime Light Gala will honor Chi Van Dang, MD, PhD.  The organization will present him with the prestigious HEADstrong Achievement Award.  Dr. Dang serves as the Director of the Abramson Cancer Center at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for his work and research focusing on the MYC cancer gene and lymphoma.

The organization will also recognize the inspirational story of IRONMAN athlete, Derek Fitzgerald, presenting him with the Nicholas E. Colleluori Award which is presented annually to a survivor demonstrating heroics and perseverance in the fight against blood cancer.

HEADstrong will also introduce the Relentless Spirit Award in an effort to recognize an ambassador of the organization, recognized for advancing the mission, actively fundraising, and supporting the cause.  Lacrosse Mustache Madness Founder Ken Clausen will be presented with the inaugural honor for raising more than $400,000 for the cause through his annual fundraising campaign.

Proceeds from the Lime Light Gala will support Nick's House™, a facility operated by the HEADstrong Foundation™ which provides complimentary lodging to displaced families traveling to Philadelphia for blood cancer related treatment and the Nicholas E. Colleluori Lymphoma Research Fund at the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania, under the direction of Stephen J. Schuster, MD.

"The Lime Light Gala is an incredible and inspirational evening that we are honored and privileged to host annually.  We strive to make this event an unforgettable experience for our supporters and guests.  This year, “We Can” take a stance and “We Will” make a difference to improve quality of life for those in the fight against blood cancers.  This is our chance to leave an everlasting impact in support of those going on the front lines and living with the disease.  We are shining the lime light on blood cancers and the work that is being done to improve the quality of life for those dealing with these diseases in our Nick's name.  We wish to extend an invitation to all who can attend the Lime Light Gala.”
