WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 28, 2011)-The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Shamrocks announced today that they have signed on John Lade of Syracuse for their 2012 season.
Lade is the fourth orange defender ever to win the William C. Schmeisser Award as the nation’s most outstanding defensemen. He was named USILA All American First Team for two consecutive years and was one of seven players to start every game.
“It is great to be drafted by the Shamrocks of the NALL,” said Lade. “It will be a great opportunity to learn and play indoor lacrosse, which not many Americans are exposed too. I am sure it will be a great experience.”
Lade transferred to Syracuse from Villanova after his freshman year. He started all 45 games from 2009-2011. He was the Shamrocks final pick in the College Entry Draft that was held at Lucky’s Sporthouse.
“John is a great addition,” said Barry Powless, head coach of the Shamrocks. “He will definitely help us on defense. His confidence in his skills and great lateral movement will help him start contributing on defense immediately. We will also look for John to help with our man down unit as he did at Syracuse.”
