B-W announced in October at its Board of Trustees meeting that lacrosse would be added as one of its 23 varsity sports. The Yellow Jackets will compete as an intercollegiate sport in 2012-13 and will compete their first full varsity schedule in the spring of 2014.
"The College pleased and excited to have Jason Tarnow as its men's lacrosse coach," said B-W Director of Athletics Kris A. Diaz. "Jason comes to B-W with a history of coaching winning programs and he competed at a high level as a collegian. His experience both as a student-athlete and coach will help us grow our program into a conference, regional and national contender for many years to come."
Tarnow comes to the College after serving as the Director of Athletic Facilities at the Severn School in Serverna Park, Maryland since August 2010.
Prior to Severn, Tarnow was the Head Coach at The College of Wooster for nine seasons. At Wooster, his teams never had a losing season and posted a 72-51 record with a .577 winning percentage. The 72 wins is the most in Fighting Scot history. He also coached 39 All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) student-athletes, two Division III All-Americans and a North-South All-Star Game participant. Tarnow was selected the NCAC Coach of the Year in 2004 after his team won the school's first NCAC title with a school-best overall record of 11-3.
Before taking over at Wooster, Tarnow served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at NCAA Division I Butler (Ind.) University and as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Salisbury (Md.) University.
"I am honored and privileged to be the first men's lacrosse coach at Baldwin-Wallace College and I am excited for the opportunity to build the program into an Ohio Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III contender," said Tarnow. "I am looking forward to many successful seasons in Berea."
Tarnow, a 2000 graduate of Salisbury with a bachelor of arts in communications, was a goalie on the lacrosse team at NCAA Division I Michigan State University before the program was cut during the winter of 1997. While at MSU, he was a two-year starter and ranked in the Top-15 all-time in saves. He then transferred to perennial Division III powerhouse Salisburg for his final two seasons.

At Salisbury, he was the 1998 Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Player of the-Year, a two-time United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American and was the Most Valuable Player of the 1999 National Champion Team. Tarnow still ranks eighth all-time in Sea Gull history with 318 career saves. He began his collegiate career at Michigan State University before the program was cut in 1997. Tarnow was a two-year starter at goalie and ranked in the top 15 all-time in saves.
