Rothstein to Compete for Israel at European Championships

ASHKELON, Israel – Former Lafayette women’s lacrosse student-athlete Jessica Rothstein ’13 was selected as a member of the 18-player roster for the Israel women’s national team which will compete at the 2015 European Lacrosse Federation (ELF) European Lacrosse Championships, held at Sportovni Centrum in Nymburk, Czech Republic on Aug. 6-14.

Rothstein started 62 games for the Maroon and White in her career, including every game her final three seasons on College Hill. Finishing with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, she was among the top-four in team scoring her sophomore, junior and senior seasons, scoring 27 goals and recording seven assists for 34 points in her senior campaign.

The Narbeth, Pa. native recently relocated to Israel in preparation for the European Championships. Israel’s squad is ranked eighth in the world as 2015 marks the nation’s debut in a women’s European Championship event. Israel joins 16 other countries vying for a gold medal, including defending champion England.

In conjunction with the Israel Lacrosse Tzedakah Program, each player will be competing in honor of a charity of their choosing. A portion of the national team’s general fundraising efforts has been committed to each charity.
