SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Sophomore J.P. Forester has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Month for March, the league announced today.

Forester led the Spiders in the month, as the team posted a 4-2 mark, which included a 2-0 Southern Conference record. He scored a goal in all six games of the month, posting two or more in five of the six, and recorded back-to-back hat tricks to lead off the month. He set a new school record with seven points in the team’s 20-1 win over VMI with three goals and four assists. He logged three games with four or more points in the month.

Forester leads the squad with 12 assists and is tied for the lead with 21 goals for a team-best 33 points. He is second on the team with 40 shots on goal. He is fourth in the league in goals per game and fifth in assists per game.

Richmond already won its first game in April, an 8-2 home victory over Southern Conference foe Furman. The Spiders are 7-4 overall, with a new record for wins in a season in year two, and a 3-0 SoCon record, also outpacing last year’s regular-season total. Richmond will head to High Point to face the Panthers at their home for the first time ever. Game time is slated for noon.
