Charlotte, NC (May 11, 2011) – NOW Energy Bar announces the addition of pro lacrosse player Ryan Flanagan to its growing roster of NOW athletes. Ryan is the first lacrosse pro to join Team NOW, which is comprised of top athletes from a variety of sports including cycling, running, mountain biking, mountain climbing, BMX riding, surfing and triathlon.

As the seventh pick in the 2011 Major League Lacrosse Draft, Flanagan started his MLL career with the Hamilton Nationals but sat the season due to injury. Later traded to the Charlotte Hounds, Flanagan was named team captain. Other career accolades include being recognized as the 2010 USILA Co-Defenseman of the Year and 3x USILA All American. Though new to the expanding major league, Flanagan has previously been recognized as one of the best defensemen in the country.
Flanagan is a University of North Carolina graduate and belongs to an elite group of lacrosse pro athletes from some of the top academic institutions, including Princeton, Johns Hopkins and Duke. Major League Lacrosse boasts the best 230 players in the world and competition is fierce on the field.
