Pioneers to Take on Team Canada Saturday

DENVER – The University of Denver men’s lacrosse program will take on the Canadian National Team in a fall ball scrimmage on Saturday, Oct. 12 in Buffalo, N.Y. at Canisius College at the Demske Sports Complex. The Pioneers will take on Team Canada Red at 4:30 p.m. ET (2:30 p.m. MT) and then Team Canada White at 7 p.m. ET (5 p.m. MT).

“The Denver Pioneers kick off their 2013-14 campaign in a very challenging and exciting way,” said head coach Bill Tierney. “Having the chance to compete against Canada's best players, as they vie to make their 2014 National Team, is an unprecedented opportunity. We look forward to taking the field for the first time with this great group of young men, who begin their journey together as Denver Pioneers.”

Along with competing against the Pioneers, Team Canada will also take on Robert Morris and Canisius. The scrimmages are serving as a selection camp for the Team Canada 51-man roster that is competing for roster spots for the upcoming 2014 FIL World Championships that will be hosted in Denver from July 10-19, 2014.

Among the 51-man roster is current Denver men’s lacrosse senior Jeremy Noble (Orangeville, Ontario) and junior Wesley Berg (Coquitlam, B.C.). Former Pioneers Geoff Snider, Dillon Roy, Cameron Flint and Mark Matthews will also wear the Red and White.

Noble will also be competing alongside his brother Jason Noble this weekend.

All sessions are open to the public and tickets are available for purchase at the gate for $5 per session.
