Noble Selected No. 2 Overall in NLL Entry Draft

TORONTO –University of Denver men’s lacrosse alum Jeremy Noble (Orangeville, Ontario) was drafted with the second overall pick by the Rochester Knighthawks at the National Lacrosse League Entry Draft on Monday night at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre.

“In 33 years of college coaching, I have been blessed with some great players, athletes, and people,” head coach Bill Tierney said. “Jeremy Noble ranks right up there with the best, in all three categories. His love for the game, passion to work hard and ability to lead by example is contagious. Most importantly, Jeremy is a pure winner. In my four years with Jeremy, I have grown to love and appreciate this young man’s talent, personality and character. Throughout his life, he has set very high goals for himself and continuously achieves them all.”

Noble was part of a 2014 senior class that led Denver to its third Final Four in four years. The Orangeville, Ontario, native’s summer was just beginning with that Championship Weekend appearance. Noble helped lead Team Canada to an FIL World championship, and then won an MLL Championship with the Denver Outlaws, the club’s first title in history.

“For most, what he has accomplished in four months would represent a lifetime of achievements, but I have no doubt there is going to be so much more for this fantastic young man,” Tierney said. “He will continue to succeed in his lacrosse career as he has always done, with great integrity and skill, but more importantly Jeremy Noble will continue to lead others to heights they can only imagine, through his willingness to be a great example of how things should be done the right way.”

A three-time All-American, a four-year letterwinner and a team captain, Noble played in 64 career games, scoring 67 goals and tallying 80 assists (147 points). Noble finished his career ninth in the all-time Pioneer record books with 147 points and second in assists with 80.

2014’s draft marks the fourth-consecutive year that the Pioneers have had an alum taken in the NLL Entry Draft. Noble joins former Pioneers Cameron Flint (2013), Eric Law (2013), Mark Matthews (2012), Todd Baxter (2011) as former DU players to be selected in the last four drafts.
