Mountain Hawks recognized with IWLCA Team Academic Award

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Continuing its success in the classroom, the Lehigh women's lacrosse program has been honored with an IWLCA Team Academic Award, as announced on Monday. The award goes to teams with a 2013-14 grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The Mountain Hawks posted a strong 3.28 team GPA last fall and 3.44 GPA last spring.In total, 84 schools were honored and seven of the new Patriot League squads.

This award is just the latest of several academic honors for the team. Twenty Mountain Hawks were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll while juniors Carli Sukonik and Lauren Willcox were both named to the prestigious Academic All-Patriot League Team. In fact, both Sukonik and Willcox were All-League honorees on the field as well.

Lehigh finished 4-4 in 2014 and advanced to its first Patriot League Tournament since 2011. The team also defeated Boston University 12-11 in double overtime to hand the Terriers their first-ever Patriot League loss. Five Mountain Hawks earned All-Patriot League recognition with four returning in 2015.
