WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Monmouth University freshman Bryce Wasserman (Southlake, Texas/Grapevine Faith) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, following his nine-goal, 12-point week in which the Hawks went 1-1 and improved to 2-1 in league play.
Wasserman, who has scored at least a point in all 10 games for the Hawks this season, now has a team-high 19 goals, seven assists and 26 points, to rank ninth in the conference in points-per-game.
"Bryce has been working hard and putting in a lot of extra time and it was nice to see some results these last two games for him," said head coach Brian Fisher. "He is certainly a big part of our offense, but overall, the chemistry between Bryce and Chris Daly and all of our guys is allowing them to play loose and with confidence."
Wasserman collected a team-high 12 points in Monmouth’s 1-1 week, with a team-best nine goals and three assists, while attempting 16 shots, 11 of which were on frame. At Lafayette, the attackman added three goals and two assists. Wasserman, who scored three of his career-high six goals in the fourth quarter in the win over Canisius, set a program-record with his six goals and seven points in a single-game versus the Griffs.
Monmouth, now 5-5 overall and 2-1 in the MAAC, returns to action on Saturday, when the Hawks travel to Detroit, Michigan to face league foe Detroit Mercy at 11:00 a.m. on Titan Field.
