WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Monmouth University head men's lacrosse coach Brian Fisher recently announced the program's inaugural schedule, which will commence with a pair of scrimmages in early February. Monmouth, competing in Division I lacrosse for the first time this spring as a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), has six home games in its first season and will compete against three 2013 NCAA Tournament teams.
“As we begin play this spring, I am looking forward to seeing our team compete and representing Monmouth University in our inaugural season," said Fisher. "There is no doubt this schedule will be a challenge for us, but we are very excited about our first spring together and the opportunity to play in the MAAC."
Monmouth will compete in a pair of scrimmages, including at Stony Brook on February 1, and the Hawks will host Sacred Heart in Monmouth Stadium on February 8 at 1 p.m.
The Hawks' first intercollegiate matchup will be on Saturday, February 26, when the Hawks open their 2014 slate at UMBC, which played in the America East Conference Championship game last year, before traveling to Wagner on Wednesday, February 26.
