MLL Pro Cranston Endorses Global Sports Event

(KINGSTON, R.I.) – From June 26 to July 4, 2011, the Institute for International Sport will host its 5th World Scholar-Athlete Games (WSAG) throughout the Greater Hartford Connecticut area. The WSAG welcome 15-19 year old scholar-athletes and scholar-artists from all fifty states and over 150 nations.
Three-time All American and Major League Lacrosse Denver Outlaw midfielder, Ryan Cranston stated:

“The World Scholar-Athlete Games is a unique global sports gathering that will bring together scholar lacrosse and sports athletes from over 150 countries. This event is truly a stepping stone to help with the universal development of lacrosse as well as social growth amongst our communities.”

Cranston has developed into a world-renowned lacrosse professional and a true example of how strongly the connections of sport and society can positively enhance one another. He has used his lacrosse pedigree to give back to the community and has created his own annual lacrosse tournament to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. “This upcoming worldwide sports gathering provides the foundation of opportunity for the future of lacrosse to further enhance themselves as athletes and people,” said Cranston.


The Institute for International Sport is a non-profit organization, striving to build a network of globally aware young adults who are interested in becoming humanitarian leaders and peace ambassadors in their home countries and communities. Held once every four years since 1993, the WSAG seek to cultivate relationships among international scholar-athletes who will serve as future leaders of sport, business, education and government throughout the world. In order to foster a healthy and diverse cultural exchange, participants will be placed on multi-national teams.

The WSAG are followed by the first ever World Youth Peace Summit (WYPS). The WYPS is a four day event with a mission to develop current and former scholar-athletes and scholar-artists into successful peace advocates. The event will feature keynote speakers: General Colin Powell, Vice President Al Gore, and Claes Nobel, among others.
