Marquette Lacrosse Player Charged with Breaking Female Officer's Face

There is nothing funny about what took place at Marquette University last weekend. Lacrosse team member Charley Gargano was discovered wandering aimlessly in only shorts and socks. High on LSD, Gargano became violent. The person on the other end of the assault was a female officer.

Being suspended from the team is the least of his problems. He faces close to 4 years in prison. Earlier this year we discussed the cultural impact the lacrosse team would have on Marquette. Kids with lacrosse backgrounds tend to be from the east coast and represent a unique lacrosse lifestyle. Marquette, which launched its inaugural season in 2013 is represented by a lot of New York student-athletes. This is not a knock on New York people, but let's face it - a New Yorker in Wisconsin is Tommy Boy to the nth degree.

Hallucinogens are scary. Gargano will, without a doubt, learn from this, but we hope others do too. Experimentation in college happens. That will never change. Just realize that your actions are real and results can be permanently damaging.

Dude, remove recreational drugs from a lax program and you end up like Georgetown: sucky. Great work perpetuating our lax disfunction, kid.
