Lehigh Men's Lacrosse Freshman Dan Taylor To Try Out For Team Canada Under-19 Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh freshman attackman Dan Taylor has been invited to Team Canada U-19 tryouts, which will take place this Thursday through Saturday in Oshawa, Ontario. Taylor was one of only 50 individuals invited to try out from an application pool of approximately 200.

“It is a tremendous honor just to be invited to the Team Canada U-19 tryouts,” said Lehigh Smith Family Head Coach Kevin Cassese. “Only 50 players get invited, so you have to be at the top of the game just to get your foot in the door. I have no doubt that Dan Taylor would be an outstanding representative of his country at the international level. He has a wealth of experience in the field game and his outstanding work ethic and superior leadership skills for a young man would certainly be an asset to Team Canada.”

Taylor is the second Mountain Hawk in a five-month span invited to try out for his country’s Under-19 national team, following sophomore Ty Souders, who tried out for the United States in July.

Out of Central Memorial High School and the Elev8 lacrosse program, Taylor enjoyed a stellar career as one of the top prospects in all of Canada. The Elev8 program is an elite travel and training program created by former Denver All-American and Team Canada member Geoff Snider. Taylor was a member of the Canadian Field Lacrosse Nationals All-Star Team as well as a two-time Under-16 Team Alberta Captain and a Midget Canadian Box Lacrosse Championships First Team All-Star.

Former Lehigh assistant and current Saint Joseph’s head coach Taylor Wray is an assistant coach for the Canadian Under-19 Team.
