BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 2012 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team will be honored in a special halftime ceremony at Saturday’s football game vs. Fordham. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. in Goodman Stadium. The Mountain Hawks will be recognized following their first-ever Patriot League Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament berth last season.
All eight of last year’s seniors are expected to be in attendance Saturday, and all weekend, along with the Alumni Game Friday night and team banquet on Sunday when they’ll receive their Patriot League Championship rings.
Led by head coach Kevin Cassese, Lehigh finished 2012 with a 14-3 record, including a 5-1 mark in Patriot League play. The Mountain Hawks went on to win the Patriot League Tournament as the #2 seed, topping #3 seed Army in the semifinals before beating host (and top seed) Colgate in the championship game.
Lehigh then earned the #7 seed in the NCAA Tournament, hosting Maryland in front of a facility record 2,278 fans and national TV audience on ESPNU. The Mountain Hawks would go on to lose a hard-fought game to the eventual National Finalists, but still finished their season by shattering a school-record for wins and putting the program firmly into the national spotlight.
