Lacrosse Leads Men's College Athletics in Graduation Rates

Forestdale, Mass. --- As the NCAA lacrosse championships begin this weekend, there also is much to celebrate in the classroom.

Men’s lacrosse had the highest NCAA Graduation Success Rate of all men’s sports. Graduation rates are based on the six-year proportion of those student-athletes who graduated versus those who entered an institution on institutional aid.

Graduate Success Rates for men’s sports were:
Lacrosse (88), Skiing (87), Water Polo (86), Gymnastics (85), Fencing (84), Tennis (84), Swimming (83), Ice Hockey (82), Rifle (82), Golf (80), Volleyball (79), Soccer (78), Cross Country and Track (75), Wrestling (72), Baseball (69), FBS Football (67), FCS Football (64), Basketball (64).

In regards to the NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR), men’s lacrosse ranked fourth of all men’s sports. The APR is a term-by-term measure of eligibility and retention for Division I student-athletes that was developed as an early indicator of eventual graduation rates.

Gymnastics (978), Fencing (974), Ice Hockey (973), Lacrosse (972), Volleyball (971), Water Polo (971), Skiing (969), Rifle (967), Swimming (967), Tennis (964), Cross Country (964), Golf (963), Soccer (958), Track (Outdoor) (954), Track (Indoor) (953), Wrestling (948), Baseball (946), FBS Football (941), FCS Football (936) and Basketball (933).
