Knighthawks Announce Partnership with Urology Associates of Rochester

The Rochester Americans and Knighthawks have teamed up with the Urology Associates of Rochester to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer. The teams will hold online and live auctions this month as part of the fundraising efforts to benefit Zero - The Project to end Prostate Cancer and The Lipson Cancer Center at Rochester General.

“Urology Associates of Rochester is proud to partner with the Amerks and Knighthawks to offer free prostate cancer screenings,” said David Dever, M.D., Urology Associates of Rochester. “These screenings, quick and simple blood draws, are part of our ongoing effort to raise awareness of prostate cancer and to reduce the prevalence of the disease in the Rochester area. Special blue jerseys signifying prostate cancer awareness - and worn by the players - will be auctioned off onsite and online, with proceeds benefiting Zerocancer.org and the Lipson Cancer Center.”

“Cancer is a disease that has touched the lives of almost every family in North America and for the past two seasons we have used a pink theme to support Breast Cancer awareness and finding a cure” said Americans & Knighthawks President Lewis Staats. “This year we have teamed up with Urology Associates of Rochester to bring awareness to and support finding a cure for prostate cancer. Cancer is not a gender specific disease and since our business is focused on professional male athletes it is natural that we would partner with UAR to put the spotlight on a disease that affects one in six men. Come out and support these two games and help us raise money to support finding a cure for this disease.”

Urology Associates of Rochester is continuing its Men’s Health Initiative with the goal of performing 1,000 prostate screenings for Rochester area men. The Amerks and Knighthawks will wear light blue jerseys on Men’s Health Nights (March 25th and March 26th) to shed light on a disease that affects one in every six men.

Prostate cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in the U.S. and this year alone more than 32,000 fathers, grandfathers, brothers, uncles, and friends will lose their battle with prostate cancer. That's why the Rochester Americans and Rochester Knighthawks are teaming up with Urology Associates of Rochester to raise funds for the Lipson Cancer Center at Rochester General Hospital. Join the fight by bidding on the great Amerks and Knighthawks jerseys, and learn about other steps you can take to help spread awareness and fight prostate cancer.

The Amerks will wear the jerseys on Friday, March 25th as they host the Lake Erie Monsters. The Rochester Knighthawks will sport their light blue jerseys on Saturday, March 26th as they host the Philadelphia Wings. The jerseys will be auctioned off in a “Silent Blind Auction” format, meaning the bidders will not know the previous bids when placing their own bids. Half of the jerseys will be auctioned at the arena the night of the games with the other half being auctioned off online at www.GoBuyRochester.com.

The Amerks will begin the online portion of their auction on Wednesday, March 23rd and conclude the bidding on Monday, March 28th at 8:00 p.m. The Knighthawks online auction will kick off on Thursday, March 24th and run until Tuesday, March 29th at 8:00 p.m.
