Boston's Jonny Gomes is known as a loose, free-spirited slugger with a lot of tattoos. He's not a shy guy, but people have rarely seen him enact emotion like he did after the fifth inning during Game 4 in St. Louis. Gomes, fans, and personnel held up “Stand Up to Cancer” signs as a show of support for those battling cancer.

Gomes, granted the opportunity, held up two signs.
One for his high school coach and another for a little boy named Brady Wein. Brady has acute myeloid leukemia. His father, years ago, created a club lacrosse program called Brady's Bunch lacrosse to raise awareness for acute myeloid leukemia.

What happened next was like a scene straight from a movie. Gomes hit a three-run homer in the top of the sixth to give the Sox a 4-1 lead. The Red Sox were able to pull off the win and even the World Series at 2-2. Could you imagine what the world would be like without sports? Sports act as a bridge where emotions and faith meet. A game can't cure cancer, but it can inspire one to beat cancer.
