SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Former SU lacrosse standout and current Rochester Knighthawks rookie Joel White is scheduled to make a public appearance at the American Hockey League (AHL) game between the Syracuse Crunch and Rochester Americans on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the War Memorial. White and fellow Knighthawk Jordan Hall will sign autographs in Memorial Hall prior to the game’s 7:30 faceoff and again during the first intermission.
White was selected 10th overall by the Knighthawks in September’s National Lacrosse League (NLL) Draft following a spectacular college career. A three-time All-American, White left Syracuse as the program’s all-time leader in ground balls (283), points by a defensive player (28) and goals by a defensive player (18). He was a two-time Tewaaraton Award finalist, and in 2010 became the first defensive specialist to the Lt. Donald C. MacLaughlin Jr. Award as the nation’s most outstanding midfielder.
With the Knighthawks, White will reunite with former SU teammates Cody Jamieson, Sid Smith and Stephen Keogh. All four were members of the Orange’s 2009 national championship team. Smith, White and Keogh also helped Syracuse win the NCAA title in 2008.
Rochester hosts the Minnesota Swarm in its first preseason home game on Saturday, Dec. 17 at the Blue Cross Arena. Tickets are free and available online at Knighthawks.net
