BRADENTON, Fla. (June 17, 2014) – Following a high-scoring inaugural season, the IMG Academy lacrosse program continued to raise the bar in year two. The program’s teams combined for a 16-4 overall record, competing against the likes of Don Bosco (N.J.), Lawrenceville (N.J.), Haverford School (Pa.), Episcopal of Dallas (Texas) and Army (N.Y.) and Navy Prep (R.I.). In the wake of such a successful second-season, the program welcomes its first wave of enrollees for 2014-15.
New arrivals to the program include:
Max Murdoch (Quebec, Canada/Senior/Attack) – Murdoch is an imposing attackman at 6-foot-4, 200-pounds. A dual-citizen of Canada and the United States, Murdoch played for the TriState High School All-Stars in New Jersey under legendary coach Bob Turco; the Ottawa Capitols under NLL star Callum Crawford; and the Westmount Lynx in Montreal, where he was a two-time captain and MVP. Additionally, Murdoch was a member of the Quebec Provincial Box Lacrosse Team in 2010, selected for the 2013 Adrenaline All-Canada Games and elected as a captain of Quebec’s Provincial Field Team in 2012, and Team Quebec U19 in 2013 when he led the program in scoring.
Tehoka Nanticoke (Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada/Junior/Attack) – Nanticoke joins IMG Academy from the Six Nations Reserve, and is considered among the top Native American prospects for the class of 2016. Nanticoke helped lead his club team, Six Nations Thunder Tribe, to the U17 title at the inaugural IMG Nationals in November 2013, and helped lead the Tonawanda Braves to the U19 title at the inaugural IMG Indoor Nationals in January 2014.
Matt Angelo (Westfield, N.J./Eighth-grade/Midfield/
Drew Crain (Memphis, Tenn./Junior/Midfield) – A two-sport athlete, Crain has honed his physical style of play on the football field, and helped his former high school earn the 2013 Tennessee State Championship. Cain is a two-time Jake Reed Nike Blue Chip participant and plays his club lacrosse for Tennessee-based No-Excuse.
Zach Pinney (Ithaca, N.Y./Post-graduate/Defense) – Pinney is a naturally gifted athlete standing 6-foot-1 who has developed into a shutdown long-stick midfielder in only a few short years of playing lacrosse. Pinney was a member of the 2013 Nike Upstate Risings and played two years for the acclaimed Ithaca High School program.
Nicklaus Wood (Aurora, Ill./Postgraduate/Midfield/
Antoine Asselin (Quebec, Canada/Senior/Midfielder) – Asselin is a prototype field/box lacrosse player who is a former captain of Team Quebec and was a two-time all-star at the Canadian National Championships at the midget-bantam levels. Additionally, Asselin was the captain of the U16 Team Quebec field team and led them to the top tier group.
Max Bolduc (Lewiston, Maine/Post-graduate/Attack) – Bolduc was a four-year varsity letterman at his former high school in Maine, and served as team captain during his senior season. During the offseason, Bolduc plays club lacrosse for 207 Lacrosse.
Liam Anderson (Buffalo, N.Y./Sophomore/Midfield) – Anderson is a two-way midfielder with tremendous experience in box and field lacrosse, and played club lacrosse the past two years with the Junior Tuscarora Tomahawks.
Philippe Carmant (Quebec, Canada/Post-graduate/Goalie) – Carmant was a two-time team captain and has severn years of experience between high school and his GCEP club team, where he won three provincial championships.
Benjamin Smith (Shreveport, La./Sophomore/Midfield) - Smith was a dual-sport athlete at his previous high school, competing in varsity lacrosse and soccer as a freshmen. Smith earned Offensive Player of the Year honors following his freshmen season, leading his team to the state lacrosse quarterfinals.
Raphe Schultz (Falls Church, Va./Post-graduate/Midfield) – A left-handed midfielder with matching size and speed, Schultz earned MVP honors following his senior season, and was a three-year letter winner.
Quin Davis (Vail, Colo./Post-graduate/Midfield) - Prior to committing to a post-graduate season, Davis attended a ski academy while playing for Backcountry Lacrosse. In his last season for Backcountry, Davis was named All-Conference and Second Team All-State.
Aidan Sechrist (Santa Rosa, Calif./Freshman/Midfield) - Sechrist carries four years of experience entering his freshmen year, spending time with Santa Rosa Lacrosse and Mad Lax.
Nicky Kay (Ocala, Fla./Junior/Defense) - Kay had a career-year in club lacrosse last season playing for the Florida Generals of the Florida Gulf Coast League, where he earned First-team All-Conference honors.
Trey Kailunas (Kentwood, Mich./Senior/Defense/Midfield) - Kailunas enters IMG Academy with three years of starting experience, and was among the state of Michigan’s leaders in groundballs and takeaways. During his junior season, was named team captain and took First-Team All-Conference and All-State Honorable Mention honors.
Kieran Dowley (Greenwich, Conn./Junior/Midfield) - A former two-sport athlete in football and lacrosse, Dowley also spent time playing club lacrosse with the New England Storm and CP Lax.
Nathan Galvin (Barnstable, Mass./Senior/Goalie) - Galvin has been a starter in goal since his eighth-grade season, helping lead his previous school to the Division-III playoffs. Galvin also played club lacrosse with Team Cape Cod and Cro-Art Nation, and was selected to the Cape and Island All-Star Team after the 2014 season.
The IMG Academy lacrosse program is unique in its approach to player development. The program is the first in the U.S. to integrate box and field lacrosse training, and is also one of the first in the world to tailor its training regimen based on data and analyses collected by IMG Academy performance staff and partners. As a result, IMG Academy has been among the highest scoring teams in the United States, and has placed student-athletes in elite college programs including Harvard, Albany, Vermont, Ithaca and Stevenson.
