Holy Cross Men's Lacrosse Names 2012 Captains



WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's lacrosse program has named senior David Henry (Davidson, Md.), senior A.J. Guarente (Gaithersburg, Md.) and junior James Kennedy (Summit, N.J.) as 2012 team captains.

"David, A.J. and James have been voted on by their teammates to lead the Crusader lacrosse team for the 2012 season," said head coach Jim Morrissey. "I am confident in these three young men and I am eager to see how far their leadership will take us as a team."

Henry has played in 44 career games for the Crusaders with 26 starts. He has picked up 68 ground balls over the past three seasons, including 17 last season. As a sophomore, Henry led the team with 19 caused turnovers and was ranked second on the team with a career-best 38 ground balls. Last season, he ranked fourth on the team with 10 caused turnovers.

Guarente has played in 42 career games with 31 starts. Last season Guarente went 79-164 as the team's main faceoff man for a career-best faceoff percentage of .482. As a sophomore he was named the team's Most Improved Player, as he recorded two goals, three assists, five points and a career-best 26 ground balls. This past season he picked up 22 ground balls, tying for fifth on the team.

Kennedy has played in every game over the past two seasons and has started in 26 of the 30 contests. As a freshman he was named the team's Rookie of the Year, as he ranked second on the team with 21 goals and seven assists for 28 points. Kennedy also ranked third on the team in points and picked up 10 ground balls. He was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week the week once. Last season, Kennedy ranked first on the team with 20 goals and 13 assists for 33 points. He picked up 26 ground balls.
