HERSHEY, PA (November 18, 2011)- The Hershey Haymakers announced today that they have signed on their second Franchise Player, Dan Deckelbaum of the University of Delaware.
A 2007 graduate from Delaware, Deckelbaum will bring a wealth of collegiate and post collegiate honors to Giant Center this winter.
“We had a list of great players to review for our second Franchise award,” said Hunter Francis, Haymakers Head Coach. “Dan is a relentless competitor who keeps himself in a supreme level of physical condition, he literally plays the entire floor in the box game. After conducting our reviews and interviews, Dan was the clear choice. I am confident he will be a star in the sport of box lacrosse for years to come.”
His senior year at Delaware, Deckelbaum was brilliant in the school’s surprise run to the NCAA Final Four Memorial day weekend. For the last several years, he has been a steady member of the United States Development team and the Bowhunter Cup team. He also spent two years with the Chicago Machine and one year with the Rochester Rattlers of the MLL.
“I’m honored to be one of Hershey’s franchise players,” said Deckelbaum. “After traveling to play all over Canada and the East Coast I’m looking forward to playing in front of the fans in Hershey and spreading the game of lacrosse at its highest level.”
The Haymakers will play their first game at Giant Center on February 16, 2012 and will compete against the Jacksonville Bullies.
