Harvard’s Ford, Romeo Earn Spots on IWLCA All-Region Team

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomores Emma Ford and Marisa Romeo of the Harvard women’s lacrosse team have been named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Region team, it was announced this week.
Ford earned a spot on the first team, while Romeo was tabbed to the second team.
Ford, a defender from Skaneateles, New York, ranks second in the Ancient Eight with 35 ground balls. She played in all 16 games this spring and has won 17 draw controls, caused 14 turnovers and scored two goals. Ford, who was also named to the All-Ivy League first team, grabbed a career-high five ground balls in Harvard’s 13-9 win over Columbia March 7.
At attack, Romeo, a native of Syracuse, New York, was honored on the All-Ivy first team after receiving All-Ancient Eight second-team accolades last year. Romeo, who leads the Ivy League with 3.69 points per game, tallied 37 goals and amassed 48 points this season. She scored a goal in 12 of the 13 games in which she has appeared, including a season-high six at Boston College April 7.
Harvard, which earned a spot in the Ivy League tournament semifinal, finished 8-8 overall and 4-3 in the Ancient Eight.
