NEW YORK – April 9, 2013 – The Gotham Lacrosse League is proud to announce the launch of an elite women’s lacrosse league for the Summer of 2013. The Gotham women’s league will play all of their games at Columbia University on collegiate level turf playing fields. The season will consist of 12 teams with 6 regular season games and 4 weeks of playoff rounds concluding with a championship game in August. "Our men’s league did not take very long to catch on,” said Kyle Sweeney, co-founder of the Gotham Lacrosse Leagug. “We felt the time was right and the level of interest was ideal to launch an elite women’s league to compliment our men’s league. We are confident that it will take off quickly and attract the best players in the city.”
About Gotham Lacrosse League
In 2007, the Gotham Lacrosse League was co-founded by Billy Pymm, a former player and coach at Providence College and Kyle Sweeney, a standout player at Georgetown University and a professional lacrosse player with the Boston Cannons. Gotham Lacrosse League games are played on the turf fields at Columbia University on Tuesday nights from June through August.
