Two days after being selected as a USILA Scholar All-American, Frey, a 2015 graduate, got news of his inclusion on the South squad, which will coached by Gene McCabe of Washington and Lee University.
Frey, from West Grove, Pa., set new career-highs this season with 41 caused turnovers and 64 ground balls as the Blue Jays went 14-3 and earned the No. 1 seed in the Landmark Conference Championship tournament. The three-time all-conference defenseman tied for the Landmark lead in caused turnovers and ranked sixth in ground balls. Frey surpassed Mike Kenneally '11 with his 100th career caused turnover, a new program record, in an April 25 victory at Drew. His 197 career ground balls rank seventh all-time at the College. Frey was 27th in Division III with 2.41 caused TOs per game.
Frey, who will wear his traditional No. 25 Friday, earned All-Landmark Conference First Team honors this season for the first time in his career. He was an All-Commonwealth Conference Second Team pick in 2013 and 2014.
Elizabethtown is being represented in the USILA North-South All-Star Game for the fourth time since 2005. Frey is the first Blue Jay to be selected for the game in seven years, going back to Gary Senese in 2008. Justin Griffey was the first E-town player to be selected, in 2005, but couldn't attend due to a Police Academy commitment. Frankie Puzzangara appeared in the game in 2007.
Frey is one of 33 players who will suit up for the South. He'll be joined by Scranton's Ryan Millard and Matt Finor as representatives of the Landmark Conference.
Friday afternoon's Division III game at Cabrini's Edith Robb Dixon Field will begin at 3 p.m. and be followed by the Division I-II game at 5:30.
