SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Soldiers from Fort Drum will be recognized at the Syracuse versus Army men’s lacrosse game on Sunday, Feb. 26 at the Carrier Dome. Syracuse Athletics has partnered with Operation Homefront (OH) Tri-State, a non-profit organization that provides emergency assistance to service members and Wounded Warriors, to distribute 600 tickets to soldiers and their families for Sunday’s game.
Soldiers in attendance will be honored with a public address announcement and on the Dome video boards.
The recognition is the latest effort by Syracuse Athletics to raise awareness and support for local servicemen and women. As part of a unique relationship, Fort Drum soldiers are frequent guests at Syracuse University sporting events. They have attended team practices and participated in multiple Carrier Dome presentations recognizing their service.
In return, Fort Drum has opened its doors to Orange student-athletes. Members of the football and men’s basketball teams have visited Fort Drum to learn about leadership, teamwork and develop a better understanding of how troops prepare for the challenges they face overseas.
