Former Pioneer Todd Baxter Selected in NLL Draft

NEW YORK – Former University of Denver men’s lacrosse standout Todd Baxter (Eden Prairie, Minn.) was selected in the National Lacrosse League’s 2011 Entry Draft by the Minnesota Swarm, it was announced this week. Baxter was picked as the 48th overall selection, in the sixth round of the draft.
“It’s an honor to play for an organization such as the Minnesota Swarm,” Baxter said. “I am so excited to be able to play in my home state. I want to thank John Arlotta for giving me this opportunity. A lot of credit has to go to my teammates and coaches at DU.”
The six-foot attackman finished his DU career having played in a total of 48 games for the Pioneers, registering 59 goals and 33 assists for 92 points. Baxter also finished with 78 groundballs and caused 13 turnovers. He joined the Pioneers for the 2009 season, after transferring from Fairfield University where he played one season.
Baxter served as a team captain for the 2011 season and was instrumental in the Pioneers’ success that saw them win remain undefeated in ECAC play, win their second consecutive ECAC Regular Season Title, the first-ever ECAC Tournament Championship, host the first-ever NCAA Tournament First Round game west of the Mississippi and advance to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
