Former Bellarmine University Offensive coordinator Bill Gleason Joins 3d Lacrosse as Director of Oregon

DENVER, COLO. (October 10, 2014) – Former NCAA Division I Bellarmine University offensive coordinator Bill Gleason has joined 3d Lacrosse as Director of Oregon. Based in Portland, Gleason already has five select teams in place (graduating years 2017 – 2021) and will be reaching out to other parts of the state in the coming months. He is the sixth NCAA Division I or MLL/NLL coach to join 3d Lacrosse in the last six months.

Gleason became the offensive coordinator for the Bellarmine University lacrosse team in 2010 where he also coached the extra-man offense, the face-off midfielders and goalies. He was a key member of Bellarmine’s recruiting team, attracting top players from across North America to Louisville.

“Recruiting was key to Bellarmine’s developing program,” said Gleason. “In 2005, the program’s second year of competition, Bellarmine moved into the NCAA Division I to face powerhouse opponents immediately. Like 3d Lacrosse CEO Jamie Munro, Bellarmine Coach Jack McGetrick was a pioneer in recruiting Canadians with their proficient skills. He was also an incredible leader, fierce competitor and mentor.”

Gleason played at the State University of New York (Cortland) where the Red Dragons went on to the NCAA Division III National Championships twice, winning the Division III title in 2006 over number one-ranked Salisbury University. A graduate of West Genesee High School, he helped the team win back-to-back state championships in 2002 and 2003.

Gleason holds a Bachelor’s degree in financial management (and a minor in computer applications) from SUNY-Cortland and later earned his M.B.A. in business administration from Bellarmine University.

Gleason became familiar with 3d Lacrosse through his recruiting experience. “I believe in the company’s training methods because I saw players who improved measurably year-over-year who had better skills and also a level of lacrosse IQ that far exceeded their age.”

Greg Waldbaum, 3d Lacrosse President and COO added that, “Western lacrosse continues to boom and our commitment to bringing high-level instruction to these players is a huge goal for us as a company.”
