FOGO Lacrosse, Inc. Announces Four Winter Camp Dates For 2012

FOGO Lacrosse, the world’s premier lacrosse specialty skills face-off camp, announced their Winter Face-Off Camp and Clinic schedule on their website this week. The schedule includes two additional winter offerings in 2012, building on their two camps from last year.

FOGO Lacrosse will kick off 2012 with a clinic in Rancho Palos Verdes, California the third weekend in January which is to be followed a week later by its first of three camps located at Gerstell Academy in
Finksburg, Maryland in January and February. The camp and clinic schedule detail as well as links to the brochure and registration forms are below.

Camps will be run by Alex Smith and David Tamberrino and will utilize their popular format of both face-off technique instruction as well as heavy face-off competition to help attendees be whistle-ready for the 2012
season. The instruction will range from the basics to the most advanced face-off techniques currently being used in college and at the professional level. Additionally, attendees will be taught Alex’s signature pinch ‘n’ pop technique that helped him create offensive fast breaks and scoring opportunities throughout his career.

The expansion to California is significant for FOGO Lacrosse and will improve the skill level of more players out West. “In the past four years, we have seen many attendees traveling from Idaho, Oregon, Colorado, California, Utah… we even had two guys from Japan this past summer,” exclaimed Alex Smith, former Blue Hen, current professional lacrosse player, 2010 USA World Team face-off man, and co-founder of FOGO Lacrosse. “Expanding our instruction geographically makes sense for helping grow both the sport and the technique of face-off men at the high school and youth levels.”

Palos Verdes head lacrosse coach Jimmy Borell, a former University of Maryland Terrapin and professional lacrosse player, said, “this will be a tremendous opportunity for both myself and local players to learn from one of the game’s best players without having the additional cost of traveling back East. The instruction that the players will receive will far exceed my teachings of highlight reel big hits or how to ‘hot pizza’ during a face-off situation.”

Additional expansion to Florida is being strongly considered. “We would love to partner with a local high school coach in the Orlando area this coming winter,” explained David Tamberrino. “If a local coach wants to help us get off the ground in that area we would be ecstatic.”
