Epoch Lacrosse Reveals Project Dragonfly, A New Era of Lacrosse Shaft Technology

It has been a long time coming, but we're very excited about seeing the final product. With the help of True Temper, Epoch Lacrosse has positioned themselves to bring the most technologically advanced shafts to the market.

LOS ANGELES, CA (September 27, 2011) - Today, Epoch Lacrosse reveals Project Dragonfly, a three year development process to provide the most technologically advanced lacrosse shafts on the market. Dissatisfied with the status quo, Epoch Lacrosse, with the help of True Temper, has made materials, manufacturing and engineering the foundation on which to create their revolutionary lacrosse shafts. Project Dragonfly ushers in a new era of technology and sophistication of performance never before seen in lacrosse.

Project Dragonfly is comprised of two different series; Dragonfly and Legend. The Dragonfly series is Epoch's inaugural line and consists of nine carbon fiber models, four of which are specifically designed for the women's game. The Dragonfly lineup will be available in the United States and Canada mid-October and in Europe early 2012. The Legend series is an advanced alloy line, featuring four models, scheduled for release later this year. The MSRP (US) for Epoch Lacrosse shafts will be set at $100-$130 for the Dragonfly series in 30"-32" length and $85-$115 for the Legend series. The 60” versions will be set at $200 for the Dragonfly and $120 for the Legend. Epoch Lacrosse shafts will be sold through a select dealer network only and include a one year manufacturer warranty.

Both shaft lineups within Project Dragonfly have specific characteristics that make them unique. All shafts utilize true aerospace grade materials, the same elements used by NASA and Boeing. Epoch's Advanced Carbon Layering (ACL) and tube drawing techniques guarantee durability and strength remain consistent throughout each shaft. These techniques also ensure the shafts remain lightweight and fast, while maintaining their best-in-class strength to weight ratio.

Another unique characteristic of both shaft lineups is the highly engineered textured top coat, which Epoch refers to as Slip/Grip. The Slip/Grip texture allows for a consistent grip to be maintained in all weather, while also allowing the shaft to move freely through the hands. Epoch Lacrosse's Optimal Feel Technology is designed to maximize playability and performance as they understand, above all, a shaft should just "feel" right.

In addition, every Epoch Lacrosse shaft is finished and painted by hand. Each shaft that leaves their facility features a unique serial number. Once registered on Epoch's website, the shaft's journey can be tracked from when it was created until its first ground ball.

There are many cultural representations of the dragonfly that have existed throughout our history. Many believe the dragonfly represents quickness, invincibility and agility because of its extreme maneuverability and speed. The Native Americans, commonly referred to as “the creators of the game”, believe the dragonfly symbolizes enlightenment and change. Over the past three years, Epoch has strived to create the best lacrosse shaft available and in doing so, has captured the spirit of the dragonfly. Epoch's philosophy to honor tradition has remained the same from their inception, but now they are determined to make history.
