Duel In Denver Announce Headliners For Canadian Roster

OTTAWA, Ont. – The Canadian Lacrosse Association announced today that John Grant Jr., Mark Matthews, Jordan McBride, Brodie Merrill and Jeremy Noble will headline Team Canada’s roster for the "Duel in Denver". In a prelude to the 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championship, Canada's Men's National Team will head to the United States to take on Team USA for an exhibition game September 8, 2012.

The "Duel in Denver" will be held at Dick's Sport Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado with game time set for 7 p.m. (MST). September’s game against the U.S. is a rematch of the 2010 Federation of International Lacrosse World Championship gold-medal game won by the U.S.

“It’s only fitting to have a distinct Colorado flavor to the Canadian team as it plays here for the first time,” said Colorado Mammoth president and general manager Steve Govett, who also serves as team coordinator for the 2014 Team Canada.

Grant and McBride are teammates on the Mammoth, while Noble and Matthews are current and former University of Denver Pioneers, respectively. Matthews is now a rookie attackman for the Denver Outlaws, and teammates with McBride.

Merrill is a five-time all-pro and three-time winner of the player of the year award at his position in the National Lacrosse League.
