Detroit evened its MAAC record to 1-1 on the year with a 13-7 victory over Manhattan at home last week. Seniors Brandon Beauregard and Mike Birney had three goals apiece, and the Titans set a school record with 58 shots.

Freshman Mark Anstead continues to pace the Titans offense leading the team with 27 points on 16 goals and 11 assists. Senior Shayne Adams has 26 points with a team-best 17 goals and Beauregard and senior Scott Drummond have posted double-digit markers with 15 and 10, respectively.

Sophomore Jason Weber still leads the MAAC and the nation with 15.89 saves per game and also tops the team with 26 ground balls, while sophomore Kyle Beauregard is second on the squad with 20 GB's.

The contest is a match-up of two of the highest scoring teams in the MAAC as Marist is first with 10.75 goals per game, while Detroit is second at 9.89 per contest.

The Red Foxes enter the game in first place in the conference with a 3-0 record and are 6-3 overall on the season, joining Detroit as the only two programs in the league with a winning record. Marist has MAAC wins over Monmouth (10-3) at home and Canisius (9-7) and Quinnipiac (17-10) on the road.

After the game, Detroit will return home for a Titan lacrosse doubleheader as it hosts Monmouth next Saturday, April 11, at Titan Field. Game time is slated for 11:00 a.m., with the women squaring off against Howard at 2:00 p.m.

THE OPENING FACEOFF
On Easter Weekend, the Titans will look to do something more than Easter egg hunting as Detroit makes the trip to upstate New York to battle first-place Marist.

AGAINST THE MAAC
Detroit is 16-18 in league play since joining the MAAC in 2010. UDM opened its' MAAC history with a 2-6 mark in 2010 and was 4-2 in 2011 and 3-3 the last three seasons, tying for second place in 2011, 2012, and 2014.

THE SERIES
In what might be the most nail-biting series out of any opponent in Detroit's seven-year history, the all-time match-up is tied at 4-4, but Detroit is 0-3 all-time in true road games.

Not only is the series tied, five of the games have been decided by just one goal and seven of the eight have been by three goals or less.

The Titans and Red Foxes have also met three times in the MAAC Championship semifinals, with the lower-seeded Titans twice knocking off Marist. UDM was the third seed in 2011 when it beat Marist, 9-8, while in 2013, the fourth-seeded Titans upset the top-seeded Red Foxes, 7-6.

ABOUT MARIST
Marist is 6-3 on the season and 3-0 in the MAAC, where the Red Foxes are currently in first place. Marist has already defeated Monmouth (10-3) at home and Canisius (9-7) and Quinnipiac (17-10) on the road.

The Red Foxes are the highest scoring team in the MAAC averaging 10.75 goals per game, while allowing the second fewest scores in the league at 9.96 per game.

Joseph Radin leads the team and the MAAC with 2.88 goals per game and 3.62 points per game (23G, 9A). Colin Joka is second on the team with 21 goals and 25 points, while Michael Begley has tallied 17 goals and 27 points.

Dominic Montemurro is the faceoff specialist winning 110-of-206 (.534) with a team-high 46 ground balls and Patrick Eaker is the top defender with eight caused turnovers and 31 GB's.

Dave Scarello has started all nine games in net and has a 9.20 goals against average and a .554 save percentage.

LAST TIME VS. THE RED FOXES
Shayne Adams scored six goals, but a fourth-period run by Marist ended the season as Detroit fell, 11-9, in the MAAC Semifinals at Tenney Stadium.

The third-seeded Titans led 9-7 with under four minutes left in the fourth when the second-seeded Red Foxes ended the game on a 4-0 run to advance to the championship.

Mike Birney, Scott Drummond, and Brandon Beauregard all scored a goal, while Jason Weber made 16 saves.

It was back-and-forth all game as there were eight ties and eight lead changes.

The game was tied at 5-5 at the half, but Detroit took a 6-5 advantage in the opening minute of the third. Marist would lead 7-6 after three, but UDM then went on a 3-0 run to jump out in front 9-7 with 8:33 left, and it was that same score with under four to go when Marist ended the contest on a 4-0 spurt.

Detroit was outshot, 42-32, and was edged in the battle of ground balls, 25-23.

TITANS AMONG THE NATION'S LEADERS
The University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse team leads the nation in saves per game and ranks in the top 20 in two other statistics as the NCAA released its latest stats on Wednesday, April 1.

Detroit is tallying 16.89 saves per game, while ranking 10th in man-up offense (.500) and 16th in clearing percentage (.880).

As a team, UDM is also the MAAC leader in clearing percentage and is second in man-up offense, scoring offense (9.89) and shot percentage (.298).
Sophomore Jason Weber leads the nation with 15.89 saves per game, a stat that he led the nation last year at 16.27. He is also second in the MAAC and third in the NCAA in save percentage (.614) – after placing first in the country last season with a .642 - and is third in the conference with a 10.26 goals against average.

Junior Paul Bitetti is third in the MAAC and 27th in the nation at 1.43 caused turnovers per game, while senior Scott Drummondleads the conference and is 13th in the country with five man-up goals.

Freshman Mark Anstead tops the MAAC and is 25th in Division I in shot percentage (.432). He is also third in the MAAC in points per game (3.00), fourth in assists per game (1.22) and eighth in goals per game (1.78).

Senior Brandon Beauregard is ninth in the MAAC with 1.67 goals per game, while senior Shayne Adams is fifth with 1.89 goals per game and 2.89 points per game.

DID YOU SAY 28?
Sophomore Jason Weber - the reigning MAAC Rookie and Defensive Player of the Year and already a three-time MAAC Defensive Player of the Week - posted a school-record 28 saves against Mercer on March 4.

Weber's 28 saves broke his school record of 23 he had last year in a win over Marist and tied a MAAC single-game record with the 28 that Dan Morrissey of St. Joseph's had against Delaware on Feb. 14, 2004.

THE GREAT WALL OF WEBER
After leading nation with 16.27 saves per game last year, sophomore Jason Weber is back at number one leading the country again at 15.89, while ranking third in the country with a .614 save percentage.

He set a school record with 28 saves against Mercer on March 4, tying a MAAC record, and posted 34 saves in the two games at the Midwest Classic, tallying a season-high 19 against nationally-ranked Marquette.

Against Ohio State in the season opener, he posted 14 saves and picked up a career-best six ground balls, while at Michigan, he stopped 17 shots. Weber picked up his first overtime victory with 16 saves against Robert Morris as the Colonials outshot UDM, 51-32, including 19-2 in the first period.

He has now recorded double-digit saves in 19 of his 20 career games played, including 14 games with 15+, nine with 17 or more and two with 20+.

In 20 career games – all starts – he has posted 322 saves, a .629 save percentage and a 9.60 goals against average.

He made 179 total saves last year alone – tying a UDM record – and was 16th in the country and first in the MAAC with a 9.07 goals against average.

ANSTEAD ON FIRE
Freshman Mark Anstead has made an immediate impact to the Titan offense and he nearly put his name at the top of the freshman record book with his six-point performance against Robert Morris on Feb. 21.

Anstead tallied three goals - all in the second period - for his first collegiate hat trick and had his three assists in the second half.

The six points were one shy of the Titan freshman record set by current teammate Shayne Adams, who had seven against Mercer - all goals - in 2011.

Anstead is the fourth true freshman to reach six points in a game following Adams, Joel Matthews (6 vs. Quinnipiac in 2010) and Tyler Staruch (6 vs. Presbyterian in 2010).

He added his second hat trick of the season with three goals and four points at Bellarmine and is coming off a three-goal effort at Quinnipiac.

In Inside Lacrosse's first set of freshmen rankings, released on March 18, Anstead was listed at No. 21.

The Potomac, Md., native currently leads the team with 27 points and 11 assists and is second on the squad with 15 goals.

BARRIERS BROKEN
The Titans have already accomplished a few "firsts" this season in beating teams like Bellarmine, Ohio State and Robert Morris for the first time in school history as well as receiving votes in the USILA Coach's Poll.

Detroit is also guaranteed its first-ever winning record against non-conference opponents in the regular season with a 4-3 mark.

The Titans also have five wins so far, one away from tying their school record for the fourth time.

ADAMS FIRST TITAN TO 100 & BEYOND

ADAMS POSSESS NATION'S LONGEST SCORING POINT STREAK
Senior Shayne Adams ran his streak to 55-straight games recording at least one point as he recorded two goals and two assists against Manhattan.

It is currently the longest streak in the nation by three games over North Carolina's Jimmy Bitter.

He has 162 points on 134 goals and 28 assists during this spurt.

In his career, Adams has scored a point in 56 of 57 games - only in his second career game at Ohio State did he not register a point - as well as scoring a goal in 54 of those contests.

THE PROUD OWNER OF ANOTHER RECORD.
Senior Shayne Adams already owned the all-time goals record at Detroit, but with his second marker against Marquette on Feb. 27, he picked up point number 147 passing former teammate and current assistant coach Alex Maini (2011-14) for the school lead.

Adams now has 165 career points on 137 goals and 28 assists. His 28 helpers are currently sixth in school history.

He is coming off a season in which he tallied a MAAC-best 42 goals to go along with 49 points – both school records. As a freshman, he had 35 goals and 41 points, while as a sophomore, he had 33 goals and 37 points.

OFFENSIVE OUTPUT
Detroit netted eight-straight goals in the third period - a school record - and never looked back in defeating Bellarmine on the road, 14-11, on March 1. The game was one of the best offensive contests in Titan history.

The 14 goals are tied for the fifth-most by the Titans in school history and the most since putting in 14 against Manhattan in 2013.

They collected assists tying for fourth in school history and the most since tallying nine at Monmouth in 2014.

The 25 total points is the sixth highest in the Detroit record book and the most since posting 26 at Canisius in 2012.

The Titans also had five man-up goals, tying a school record for the third time.

BRING ON THE YOUNGSTERS
You always feel more comfortable with veterans, but it was the younger Titans who have really shined this year.

Through nine games, more than 40.0 percent of Detroit's offense - including 38.2 percent of its goals - has been recorded by underclassmen (freshmen, redshirt freshmen, sophomores) as they have notched 34 goals and 21 assists for 55 points, with the UDM's total standing at 89 goals and 48 assists for 137 points.

BO KNOWS OFFENSE
Senior Brandon Beauregard tallied a career-high four goals and tied his career best with five points at Quinnipiac and came back with his second-straight hat trick firing in three markers against Manhattan.

He now has three hat tricks in his career following the three goals and two assists he had at second-seeded Notre Dame in 2013 in the NCAA Championship First Round.

He has scored a point in eight of UDM's nine goals on the year - including eight points on seven goals and an assist in the last two games.

Beauregard is now third on the team with 23 points and 15 goals - with the 15 markers representing a new career high - and he is just one point away from setting a career high in points, passing the 23 he had last year.

In his career, he currently has 73 points - eighth in school history - on 37 goals and 36 assists. The 37 markers are eighth in the UDM record books, while the 36 assists are fifth.

GIVE IT UP
Junior Paul Bitetti was selected preseason All-Conference by the MAAC and Inside Lacrosse and he showed exactly why he has received those accolades tallying two caused turnovers against Ohio State and at Michigan. He also picked one up against Marquette and at Bellarmine and is third in the MAAC and 27th in the nation with 1.43 per game.

He saw a lot of action as a freshman on the 2013 MAAC Championship team and stepped up his play last year, taking over the top long pole spot and earning First Team All-MAAC.

Bitetti recorded a career and team-high 24 caused turnovers and ended the year 12th in Division I and leading the MAAC with 1.85 caused turnovers per game.

SHEVINS TAKING IT AWAY
Senior Chris Shevins is part of a strong senior backline and the upperclassman played a great game in registering a career-high three caused turnovers with a pair of ground balls against Ohio State. Against Robert Morris, he had two caused turnovers.

He has a career-high 10 caused turnovers on the year and is fifth in the MAAC with 1.11 per game.

He has now played in 50 career games and has 23 caused turnovers and 58 GB's.

BIRNEY GOES BOOM
Senior Mike Birney posted his first hat trick of the season with three goals and a season-high four points against Manhattan his last time out. It was his eighth career first three-goal game and the first since ringing in four against Marquette last season.

He now has 60 career goals for fourth in school history, while his 85 points is also sixth.

Birney was tabbed Second Team All-MAAC for the second-straight year in 2014 and was a preseason All-Conference selection this year.

He posted 18 goals and 25 points as a junior, tied for second and fifth, respectively, on the squad in 2014.

Birney - who has a shot clocked as high as 114 MPH in the summer of 2013 - earned the Most Outstanding Player at the 2013 MAAC Championship, where he recorded eight goals and had a pair of game winners and a career-high five in the title game.

FIRST 3 FOR KYLE
Sophomore Kyle Beauregard picked a great time for his first three collegiate goals and an even better time to post his first hat trick as his third goal was the game winner in overtime against Robert Morris.

He played in seven games as a freshman, mostly on the wing, and recorded just one shot.

He did not play in the season opener against Ohio State and did not take a shot at Michigan until posting six against RMU, with his three goals coming in the final 13 minutes.

On the year, he has six goals on just 17 shots.

WING PLAY
Sophomore Kyle Beauregard has done a great job on the wing when he lines up there as he collected a career-best six ground balls at Quinnipiac and another four against Manhattan last week.

In fact in the last five games, he has 20 GB's, which is second on the team.

THE BEAT OF HIS DRUM
Senior Scott Drummond tallied a goal - which proved to be the game winner - in the season opener against Ohio State, helping the Titans to their first-ever win over the Buckeyes.

He currently has a team-high five man-up goals, tops in the MAAC and 13th in the nation.

The midfielder is coming off his best season culminating in being named Second Team All-MAAC in 2014 as he set career highs with 17 goals, 15 assists and 32 points, good for third on the squad in assists, fourth in points and tied for fourth in goals.

He is currently fourth in school history with 91 points and tied for fifth with 52 goals. He also has totaled four hat tricks in his career.

CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR
The Titans have 64 losses in their program's history, but half of those have been by four goals or less, including 13 by one goal, six by two and another nine by three.

UDM has also suffered 18 of its 21 losses to MAAC foes (regular season & tournament games combined) come by four goals or less, with nine one-goal games, six three-goal setbacks, and four two-goal defeats.

ROAD WOES
The Titans are 9-46 all-time in true road games, but did have four wins away from the Motor City last season.

UDM is also 3-4 in neutral site games with a 3-2 mark in the MAAC Tournament.

The only regular season games played by the Titans at a neutral field was against Manhattan in 2009, a 14-9 setback in Moon Township, Pa., and this season with a 12-6 loss to No. 16/17 Marquette at the Midwest Classic in Louisville, Ky.
