College Entrepreneur Enters Eyewear Industry Via Crowdfunding

MIAMI, MAY 28, 2013 – Justin Sohn, a rising senior at Syracuse University, is studying within the Martin J. Whitman School of Management and is dual majoring in Finance and Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises. He is looking to make a name for himself by starting his own business, a sunglass company called Sidebar Eyewear.

Sohn’s entrepreneurial spirit has aided him on this path since his freshman year of college to pursue his own company. What separates Sidebar Eyewear from other leading brands is unique in its own right; Sidebars are not just another polarized pair of sunglasses—they are stylish, durable pairs of shades that are fully customizable and affordable. They contain no screws or hardware, allowing the parts to be interchanged, as one can freely swap the arms, frames and lenses to fit their evolving preferences.

"I wanted stylish and durable shades that I could wear anywhere without having to worry about breaking or scratching them. I have always wanted sunglasses for places like the beach, parties, skating, surfing, or just chilling by the pool and enjoying life; hence our company mantra, 'Snow. Beach. Chill'. This is what I am now offering to you,” said CEO & founder Justin Sohn.

Sohn has dedicated the past two years of his life to offer the public the best sunglasses a company could provide that are not cheap, low quality or overpriced. Primed for success, Sohn is now asking for the public’s help in raising money for his endeavor by supporting his project on the Indiegogo website. In exchange, project backers will be able to pre-order and reserve their choice of Sidebars before they are officially released from the first ever production run.
