Colgate Men's Lacrosse Competes at Annual Nick Colleluori Classic

FOLSOM, Pa. (10/10/11) - The Colgate men's lacrosse team competed at the Annual Nick Colleluori Classic over the weekend along with nine other Division I men's lacrosse teams, including Cornell, Lehigh and Hofstra to name a few.

The Raiders fell to Marist 7-3 in their opening game and then tied with 2011 NCAA quarterfinalist, Cornell, 9-9.

The Classic, which has become the premier men's collegiate fall ball lacrosse tournament, is hosted by the HEADstrong Foundation every year in honor of Nicholas "Head" Colleluori and those affected by blood cancer.

The event is held at Ridley High School, the home of the late Nick Colleluori who passed away five years ago after a fight against Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma while playing at Hofstra. Colleluori was a member of three state championship lacrosse teams at Ridley.

In just four years, the Classic has raised approximately $700,000 for blood cancer research and family assistance.
